My boss had her husband help write my corrective action is this legal?

My boss put me on 30 days probation and gave me a corrective action plan. I have evidence that she had her husband who works for the virginia employment commission in the appeal division, he helped her write i have proof email of all of this she also took evidence to show him to help her write the corrective action. What should i do i am working hard on my performance but this isnt right for her to show this to him and have him help write it should i report him to VEC?

  1. Sure, go ahead and report it if you want but I don't think it will do much good. At the same time though it may help to explain how you got private emails between her and her husband. Perhaps that gives a better idea of the kind of employee you may be though. Hmmmmm, interesting.
  2. Well, if you report him you will probably get fired for sure. But I would anyway. Information about employees is confidential and your employer should not be discussing with anyone other than her superiors. She is violating the law when she does. I would also report your boss to the head of your company as well.
  3. Where do people get the idea that work performance issues are private? That is TOTALLY up to the company, they can share that information with whoever they want. It's not very smart, it's very bad leadership, but it's not illegal. The only thing a company is NOT allowed to share is your personal financial information such as SSN and bank information. Even your salary is fair game. It's certainly legal for her to ask her husband to help her write your corrective action. Remember, that is for YOUR benefit, she could have just fired you. I have to agree with the poster above me, though, that your accessing of her personal email might just be a big part of your job problems.
