Usps question regarding employmet?
applied online for a postion in the post office CITY CARRIER (TRANSITIONAL EMPL-MOU) I got a email to confirm info and background check- then I was invited to a interview and it states it could last 4 hours- my question is what is the hiring process to work in the usps? How many more steps is there in the process and how long dose it take till you begin employment if hired? I heard they call you over a year later if your considered. Thanks to everyone who answers

- We are having really tough times right now. I am a clerk and they have made me a friggin custodian. WE are at a hiring freeze and we will not be hiring any time soon. I have worked here for 9 yrs and they still made me a custodian. Normally, you take a test, then based on your score, you are called. I got a 87.1 on my test. It took them 2 yrs to call me. This was almost 10 yrs ago. There are millions of employees currently displaced right now. No one is going to get hired until all of those people, (including myself) is put back into their original positions. You do have a chance with Supervisory. Never hurts to try and also Carriers are always hiring. But Clerks, like myself, are in a hiring freeze. I wish you luck. :) Edit: sorry, i didn't read your entire question. So youve got the invite for an interview, you're going to have to account for all 10 years of your past/present employment. Do Not use the bathroom! You will take a urine test to test for drugs. To be a Carrier you will have to take a computer exam and a driving exam. They won't be easy but there are alot of carriers who passed and I don't see why you should be any different. You have to have a clean driving record for 2 or more years. Also, a Transitional Employee is not a Career or Regular. This means that you can be let go at any time. You will temporarily get benefits but you will not be guaranteed employment until voluntary separation
