Can I find a store in New York that sells used/unlocked iPhone 3g?

I am a student and I am traveling to New York this week. I would like to buy an iPhone, but since no carrier in Slovenia has it, it's pretty expensive. And since you can only buy a new one in the US with the AT&T plan, it seems best to buy a used one. So, where, apart from craigslist and ebay could I get one? Thanks for the help.

1. Stores don't sell used iPhones. It's not permitted. These are peer to peer transactions.
2. If you are not an AT&T customer you cannot purchase any iPhone in any store. There are no stores that sell unlocked iPhones, other than maybe a repair shop or something like that. You only option would be the internet
