Moving to Sacramento from the Bay Area?
Hello I am 23 years old and live in the east bay. A few friends and I are planning to move to Sacramento. The reason on moving is purely to have fun. I have been to Sac a few times and had a blast! I have been out of work for a while now and my license is up at the end of the month so I figure why not try somewhere else. I am getting tired of where I am and ready for some change. This seems like the perfect time. My question is where is a good spot to live in Sacramento? I have tried to look for houses on craigslist and other sites but its hard not knowing the area. We want to be close enough to downtown to walk or take a quick cab ride. I have heard that there is a lot of ruff so called Ghetto spots that I want to avoid. What im really looking for is a nice house ($400-$600 each person, 2-3 people) In a quiet neighborhood pretty close to downtown. Also If there is any of your favorite Bars/Clubs. Places to eat. Things to do. Good Happy hours ect that would help alot! Thank you P.s. I am not going to school, and PLAN on getting a job up there.

- Your best bet would be somewhere in Midtown Sacramento. That would be in the main core of what many still call downtown, but look for something in between say F St. and R St. and 16th St. and say 29th St. Some people may not like this area but it really is not that bad. Parking can be a pain sometimes. This area would put you within in easy walking distance or an affordable cab ride of all the hot spots. There are some very nice Apartment rentals in Southwest Natomas, and this area is only 5-10 minutes from downtown, midtown. These places are well within your budget. Southwest Natomas is defined as the area that is south of I-80 and west of I-5. You get east of I-5 things can get a bit rough. Sorry I really can not recommend any eating or drinking spots, I am pretty much a homebody now a days. Good luck with the job search, I have been out of work since May. But on the bright side my brother just scored a great job with the State last week.
- Midtown or downtown think letter and number streets, capital avenue. You should visit and look around for yourself. There's always places for rent downtown.
- Search for a place in midtown. Nothing lower than G street, F street is still a little shady and nothing above T Street, between 16th and 29th. When I lived in Sac I moved around midtown a few times, lived on O and 23rd or so, also on V Street, and had friends all over different spots. I haven't been to Sacramento in some time, I am a bay area resident, but I grew up in Sacramento. Good bars.. I have no idea, we used to like the trio of bars on P street... I can't remember the name of them. Just walk around, its not that big... you'll learn what you like when you are there. goodluck.
