If a person owes child support, can she qualify for section 8 housing?

A person owes months of child support, was arrested for domestic abuse and is in court for other debts to the ex. Can this person qualify for section 8 housing?

  1. No You cannot have a criminal record and get Section 8

As a matter of fact I have two Sec 8 tenants with third degree felony convictions .Sec 8 does have a little forgiveness...They will block you if the offense has anything to do with violence---is of sexual nature--i involves endangering a minor or drug distribution ..An arrest isn't a conviction---if your friend was found guilty of DV this can be a stumbling block..Debts are not considered..She should check with the agency to be sure.
  3. It shoudl not factor in with the housing authority, but it will show up on a credit report, renting will be hard.
