List Only

How can you be on the do not call list, have a private phone # and still get sales calls?

How do i stop this. I changed my number because of all the telemarketers. I can't do it again?

  1. If you're already on the do not call list... invest in call display. If you don't recognize the number, don't answer.
  2. You may have a private number, and be registered with the Do Not Call Registry, however telemarketers can get your phone number in numerous way. Some unscrupulous firms pay people to "dumpster dive" and find non-shredded papers with personal information. Stores and credit card companies may also sell your information if it is not listed in the contract you signed. I suggest investing in caller ID. Escaping telemarketers is really impossible.
  3. Anywhere that you use a credit card will call you with offers. Also, if you use a credit card, some place are not secure and will sell your phone number to any company they can to get money.
  4. i used to work for a marketing research company, which is more like calls for on the phone surveys. telemarketing is illegal, so these are probably the calls you're getting and their intro's sound a lot alike. now these are conducted for companies like your local shopping mall or your cell phone company, to get your opinion on their services, and they can give your number to these research companies. so just get a caller id and if the number is from out of state or the title says anything with "research" or "marketing", say your not interested or theyll call you back until your at your witts end.
  5. My Suggestion would be to answer the call, take down as much information about the company as you can. After getting a business address and phone number listing from them advise them that you are on the Federal Do Not Call List. Keep in mind a lot of these companies and call centers now work outside the United States so they do not abide by US laws. These companies can be reported by sending their information to the following link, https://www.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx Also keep in mind that these calls may be from non-profit organizations who the do not call list does not protect you from.
  6. File a complaint with the local police department. They will give you a website to go to where you can log all of the times that that company is calling, and for every time it is logged, the company gets fined $500. Eventually, they will stop. Or, you could call the company back and ask to be taken off of their list and explain that you are on the Do Not Call Registry. This normally works.
  7. idk but it's f_cking annoying!
