Does anyone have tips on renting apartments what kind of stuff to look for?

1. Look for every kind of nick or damage. Do the pipes need to be replaced? Does the air conditioner work? Does the toilet or sink leak? Does anything need fixing? Does it have ceiling fans? Does the apt have a working door bell? If one window is cracked, how long ago did it get damaged? Do the walls and or doors have scratches? Are any cabinets, including the bathroom ones, falling apart or could they fall a part, soon? How many phone hooks ups does it have? Where are they? Where's the nearest one to where, you're computer will be?
2. depends, are you looking to live with a friend, family member on your own? well look for a place with a pool some places have it, look for a spacious apartment, ask questions about the apartment, make sure there isnt anything wrong with it before you move in, make sure its up to health codes, make sure there is no mold growing inside the apartment, make sure everything works before you sign a lease. well look for a nice apartment in a decent neighbor hood, dont look for an apartment that you cant afford, think about what your budget is, look online, go on different sites, call a bunch of places, look for a secluded place with an ocean view. dont go over board with decorating, keep it simple.
