Any suggestions for Apartment rent under $1100.00 per month for a 1 or 2 bedroom?

I live in The Greater Los Angeles area. I'am a first time renter, and I have thought about trying to get into a house instead of an apartment. I really don't know where to begin looking or if there are some programs that I don't know about that benefit me and my family as first time buyers/renters.

3. Try Studio City in L.A. Look on www.craigslist.org. Try a Realtor. The $1100 may be worth the fee if you've never lived in L.A., before.
