1. Take into account ALL of your other bills and see where you can cut costs. You have got to eat and have a phone but find out on paper what you can really afford first. Do you need to pay any insurances? Include those too. Best of luck! You may need to bring in an extra person if money is too tight. Make sure you really like them and that they will contribute!

3. Depending on your other bills etc. your income should be 3X your rent. (but you should probably factor utilities,insurance, and other essentials) into that.
4. You should have a net income (your take home pay) of 2 - 2.5 times the rent. If the rent is $500 then you should have a take home income of a minimum of $1000.00. Remember you will have to eat, pay for utilities, entertainment, etc.
