Help with interpreting apartment rent cost (not a difficult question)?

I'm thinking about moving into an apartment with a friend in a couple of months, so I have been looking into apartments in my area. I'm currently interested in a two-bedroom apartment with a rent of $800. I was just wondering if that would be the monthly rent for both of us together, or if we would each have to pay $800 per month. I know, it's kind of a stupid question, but any help would be appreciated.

2. If the apartment is $800 a month, then you would split that in half, and both of you would be responsible for $400, or half the rent. Also, remember, you may have to pay for cable, electric and water. Those should be split also.
