  1. I'm looking at a couple other sites right now that buy laptops from people. The notebook you reference is priced 50% more than the prices I'm finding. The prices on cashforlaptops.com and on laptopsintocash.com are from $680 to $740. On the other hand, they seem to be selling on eBay for about $1500-$1600. On Amazon, they are selling new (through Apple) for $1700. Frankly I don't understand eBay anymore; people often bid too much for all sorts of stuff. Buying a used notebook on eBay for $100 less than brand new? Whatever. So, on the other hand, the Craigslist guy's price seems almost too good to be true. Of course it would cost him at least 10% of the purchase price in eBay seller/PayPal & shipping fees, and the hassle of babysitting an auction and dealing with the Nigerians. How old is the Macbook? I'm not a Mac freak, so I'm a bit out of the loop. I'm concerned about the fact that he's offering all this software, but can't provide any disks. Even if they're available online through his university, he can download the files and burn them to disks, right? You will be out of luck if anything bad happens to the software or the hard disk--how will you replace all that software? He needs to provide a sure solution to this problem. If he can't, and you still want to buy, you need to find a way to image the disk to preserve your software. My overall vibe: The price is okay for a person-to-person retail sale. Why is he selling it? I'm gonna guess he needs the cash. You shouldn't make a deal unless he can cough up at least copies of most of the software you're buying. Nobody buys expensive software then leaves it on a server somewhere without creating a backup. You're not going to have a warranty, so you better have some extra money around in case anything goes wrong. Best wishes with your decision.

  3. I would say that it is a decent price for a Mac Book Pro. I would ask the seller about possible apple care plan. I would also submit an offer...
