Can anyone figure out this math problem for me?

Here's the problem: A disc jockey must allow time for 24 minutes of commercials every hour, along with four minutes for news, 3 minutes for weather, and 2 minutes for public-service announcements. If each record lasts an average of 3 minutes, how many records per hour can the DJ play? I know. It's pretty perplexing. Just to let you know, I'm learning about working backwards to solve problems. PLEASE HELP! THANKS!

  1. the answer to all math problems is Pie... what r u, stoopid?
  2. 9 records really, is it that hard? i did it in my head. kids these days....
  3. 24+4+3+2=33 60-33= 27 9 records
  4. nine.
  5. Ok, start one step at a time. There is 60 minutes in 1 hour. If 24 minutes go to commercials, that leaves 36 minutes. If 4 minutes go to news, that leaves 32 minutes. If 3 minutes go to weather, that leaves 29 minutes. If 2 minutes go to PSA;s, that leaves 27 minutes. This leaves a total of 27 minutes for music, is each song is 3 mintues in length that means there is time for 9 songs (27/3)
  6. = (60 - 24 - 4 - 3 - 2)/3 = 27/3 or 9 Answer: 9 records
  7. Regardless of Commercials, news, weather and public service. The DJ could play 20 records in an hour if he didn't follow rules.
