Do any former/current radio deejays remember their early days in radio?
If so, how was it like? Because I'm going to school to become one.

- Sure. My first job was at WTAL in Tallahassee, Fla. All of the music was on records, mostly 45s. In the control room, there was an 8-channel McMartin audio board, 3 Ampro cart machines, two QRK turntables and a Revox A77 reel-to-reel mounted up over the turntable counter. The station played a light adult contemporary format with some oldies and country blended in. That might sound funny now, but it did quite well, with over a 4 share in the market. And this was an AM station with a limited coverage area. The current 45s hung on nails driven into the wall, over the turntables and below the Revox. Shortly after I started work there, I bumped a stack of those 45s, causing them to fall onto the turntable below - and naturally, it was the one with the record playing on the air that they fell onto. Despite that silly goof, I kept the job and went on to a long career in radio (1979-2004). I still do internet radio nowadays.
