Is there a more efficient way of looking for a place to live other than craigslist?

I'm in the San Diego area and I need to find a place by the end of the month. I've been looking on craiglist and I can't find anything. What else can I do?

1. Well, some things you can do are go to places such as coffee shops or other local shops and usually there is a bulletin board where people can put up ads. There is often ads about houses for rent, or rooms for rent, if that's what you're looking for.
