which laptop is suitable?

i am a disk jockey ( dj ) planning to buy a laptop. i will be using virtual dj software to play music in the parties. i have a compaq laptop ( 1 gb ram, 180 gb hard disk, windows vista basic.) but my teacher is advicing me to buy an apple laptop ( mc book ) . according to him apple will be more suitable for the task as windows may get hang sometime. so should i buy an apple laptop for better performance or will my compaq laptor will suffice? will my compaq laptop give trouble while playing songs? is apple really goodone for such kind of job job?

2. Apple is good but their laptops are seriously overpriced, you can get a PC laptop with better specs and more power for less money than an Apple computer. You're essentially just paying hundreds more just for the Apple Logo. Any PC laptop should be fine for that although I would recommend installing Windows 7, you'll get better system performance that way than with Vista.
3. I was looking into this a few months ago and someone who knows more than me about laptops. He told me that at the moment many laptops are better than apple. He said, if it was years ago Apple had the best of softwares etc, but now all compete with eachoter. So,I would say, if you can afford it buy an Apple, if not your compaq laptop should be fine.

6. apple laptops r costly especially in India the basic model starts rom 53,000 at the same price u can get a good config pc laptop which will suit your needs if your Compaq laptop can be upgradeable ,then you need to increase the memory of ram to 4gb or 8gb if its possible or buy a new pc laptop with corei5 processor windows 7 and 8gb ram which will be ideal and will allow better multi tasking if u r willing to put lot of money then buy a macbook pro
7. if you want a laptop for heavy work i.e, playing music and doing something at same time then i would recommend the dell studio laptop series with core i processors. these laptops are fast and can handle a lot of work.if you are not multi-tasking then a simple core2 laptop will do.
8. apple's macbook is a solid peace go for it if you have enough budget
