how is the best way to find a house to rent near the beach in san diego?

i have already tried craigslist. does anyone know of another website that has listings and you dont have to pay? I am looking for either ocean beach, mission beach or pacific beach in San Diego, CA

1. Drive along the beach and look for "For Rent" signs. Not only do you get information, but you get to drive along the beach!!!
2. Absolutely. Try VRBO.com - that's vacation rentals by owner. Lots of SD beach deals to be had there. Good luck and remember the sun screen!
