Where can I get a free or really inexpensive KITTEN in North San Diego County?
My brother's birthday is coming up and I want to give him a kitten. I've already been on craigslist, petfinder.com, and the humane societies are out of my budget. Thank you in advance!

- Look in your local newspaper. Often people will run an ad for free kittens. Also look in yahoo groups for a "freecycle" group in your locality. Ours often lists free kittens and other small animals.
- Im not really sure what to tell you other than be sure your brother wants a kitten, and #2 no kitten is free, there are shots and food and etc, but maybe you can widen your search, can you dive a little further, maybe you could try a different shelter, sorry hope I helped some
- First off, it's not wise to give someone a pet as a gift unless they help pick it out. I suggest you take your brother to the shelter and pick out a cat there. It may seem cheaper to get a free kitten but in the long run you'll save money by adopting. You will get a health guarantee, discounted spay/neuter, and will be saving a life. It worries me that if you can't afford adoption fees you won't be able to afford vet care which is necessary. You might need to wait til your financial situation is better before committing to a pet. Up front you will need about $100 for shots, worming, and supplies. Then another $75-100 for spaying when the kitten is 5-6 months old. Owning a pet is more than pouring a little cat chow in a bowl every day. You have to be responsible for it's care.
- Humane societies are actually very cheap if you consider they already have neutering done, vaccinations, wormings, and all that other stuff that you would have to do on a "free" or "cheap" kitten. Bring your brother on his birthday and he can pick his own!
- at kijiji.com yay
- It really is best to get one from a shelter,as the kittens will already have had vaccinations, been checked for leukemia and AIDS,and been spayed or neutered. You might have to pay for it,but if you get a "free" kitten, there is no guarantee that it is healthy, and you may end up spending a lot of money at the vet on a sick kitten, which will also need vaccinations, worming, and spay or neuter surgery,Would your parents help you out? And,does your brother want a kitten for sure? Like someone else said, make sure he wants one,and take him with you to pick it out.
- Try your local newspaper where I live they have them there all the time. Hope this helps you!!!!
