How does the government create jobs?

I keep seeing on tv and hearing on radio about the government 'creating jobs'. Are these jobs government jobs or private sector jobs? How do they know they created a job?

Public Comments

  1. They count. The economy added 123,000 private sector jobs in March, the most since May 2007. Overall, the economy added 162,000 jobs, including 48,000 Census positions.
  2. It is easy they take money from productive citizens and endeavors. They run it through countless piles ans strands of red tape. After the majority of that has been dwindled down they use it to hire a person. So for only $100,000 of your money they can create a $20,000 per year job.
  3. They spin numbers out of thin air, much like printing money. They have double-counted jobs, sometimes triple counted them; they are seasonal and temporary jobs that are not long-term; they have unlimited ability to hire federal employees so long as they have the slaves out there working, bringing in income, to be taxed by the federal government to pay for these federal employees. Be clear on this. They are not creating private sector jobs. Private sector jobs come from the private sector businesses that are basically left alone to grow their businesses and hire people.
  4. The best way the government can create jobs is by staying out of it and letting the market correct itself. If you look at the stimulus bill the government did a terrible job at spending all that money.
  5. Government cannot create jobs. They take money from business that is currently being used to employ people, and use it to employ people. That cant work.
  6. Two ways. The first is through government contracts. For example, the various high speed rail projects will get federal contracts to private firms. These will be private sector jobs. Some federal agencies are also getting stimulus money. These will be government jobs. Its easy to count the number of jobs in both situations.
  7. The government hired thousands of new tax auditors to catch Americans cheating on income tax's and it worked very well, so the government is hiring even more auditors. Now every ones tax return will be looked at and audited. The days of careless tax returns are over forever.
