What are some good apartment review websites?

I had a TERRIBLE experience that basically left my daughter and myself homeless because I paid a deposit for a house, signed paperwork to move in March 20th, and they called and said the house wouldn't be ready until MAY 7TH!!!! That they went on "good faith" that their current tenants would be ending their lease early!!! I told them, "you don't make an obligation to someone and have them pay and sign documents on GOOD FAITH!!" They DID give me my money back, but if not for my Mom, my 2 year old daughter and I would have been homeless for 2 months. They even refused to put me up in a place and pay for storage and one of my moving costs. I cannot believe they could do that to someone. I am going to file a formal complaint to the BBB, I was playing phone-tag with THEIR Property Mgmt, but after three more attempts to call and leave messages, I did not receive another phone call from management. I need to ensure this does not happen to another family. Had my daughter and I been moving from out-of-state and didn't know anyone.....we'd be HOMELESS!!! I have decided to STAY at my Mom's for the next couple of months to ensure we ALWAYS have a roof of our heads because I will no longer be renting....I plan to BUY!! I did EVERYTHING I was supposed to do. I gave 60 days written notice to let my current leasing office know I was moving (the KICKER....is this new place ASKED me to move in there early. I was going to pay a month's rent at 2 different places!!). I WOULD have paid month-to-month HERE, had they told me not to move in until May 7th, the date their current tenants lease was ACTUALLY up. Of course, my leasing office found new tenants, since I gave my notice....so I couldn't stay any longer than my actual lease. And the new place had the AUDACITY to say my old place is "unprofessional"!! THEY were just doing their job!! I warned them that they will be getting bad reviews all over the internet and that I'm contacting the BBB. Are there any other actions I can take? What are some good apartment/home rental review websites?? Thank you!! Thanks so much, Bill (and fiancee). There was no lease signed (it was upon my "moving day" I was to sign the lease and get my keys). I signed other various paperwork regarding my employment, pets, rules, etc....which I got copies of. None states the dates I was promised, which is why I was just going to file formal complaints and not a law suit....though I still do feel entitled to storage costs, half my Mom's mortgage, etc. It's too late for me to keep renting, and I prefer not to. That would be ANOTHER extra move....I just can't handle it anymore. the stress of it all has overwhelmed me. I just want to own, and if I settle before June 30th, I get a nice $8,000 gov check. ;) Yes...CHECK! I have already talked to a realtor and begun my process. I am tired of renting and putting $14K a year towards something that isn't mine. I want colorful walls, I want to plant flowers, I want my cats with no pet fees monthly!! I want an INVESTMENT. Now is the time to buy! :) Thanks so much, Bill (and fiancee). There was no lease signed (it was upon my "moving day" I was to sign the lease and get my keys). 1. Yikes! Sorry to hear about your experience. I had a somewhat similar one when moving back to the city after college. I signed a lease and put down a deposit through an "apartment finder" only to find out a month before move-in that they got a higher bid from someone else and gave the apartment away. I ended up finding another place within a week using rent.com and moved in like 3 weeks later. I was really mad about losing the place I had hunted for but I ended up loving the new place so much more than the first one that I signed. The $100 gift card I got for using their service really wasn't much but it definitely was an added bonus! I know you say you don't want to rent but it may be a short-term solution until you can find a place to buy. As far as your previous situation... A lease is a legally binding agreement. I would find a real-estate layer in your area who will provide a free consultation and talk to them. They should at the very least pay for one of your moving expenses. If you signed a lease to start on a certain date I feel like they should also pay for your rental expenses until you can find another place of permanent residence. My fiance and I wish you and your daughter all the luck in the world and hope that you find the place of your dreams in the near future. Best of luck, let us know how things turn out!
