Are there more government jobs than the ones in the private sector?

My father told me this morning that there is a possibility that there are more government jobs than private sector jobs. Currently I have a temporary job with the government. I want to know if the statistics of how many that are jobless is accurate. When I left my last job I did not go to the social security office so I want to know how this count is accurately taken? It seems like on the web there are a lot of able people on the net who are on dissablity as well.....all this doesnt seem right.

  1. No, absolutely not. There are some 154 million employed people in the US. Depending upon how you count the numbers (and which sources you use), the government accounts for something less than 25 million jobs.
  2. Unemployment figures are NOT accurate. The system was changed when ronnieboy ray-gun was president because they didn't want to know the truth. Yes, really. once your unemployement compensation runs out, you are no longer counted. and all military personnel were ADDED to the numbers, to make the unemployed percentage look smaller. And WHY would you go to a social security office when you're unemployed?
  3. Your question is about the amount of jobs, and the answer is simply that there are more jobs in the private sector than in the government. Factors like unemployment, social security and those on dissability have no impact on the amount of jobs. They all show trends in the job market but no flux in the amount of employement industries.
