What are some safety tips for hooking up on craigslist?

I already know that it can be dangerous and that most postings are scams, etc., but I know that many people have successfully hooked up on craigslist. What are the precautions for making a successful hookup?

1. Don't give out your phone number until you are sure the person is legit. Meet for the first few times in a public place. Make sure at least one of your trusted friends knows who you're meeting, where & when. My friends have "plants" in the coffee shop who arrive before they do and leave after they do to monitor things in a discreet manner and check for creeper vibes. Always take your own vehicle.
2. Never give your real name, address, personal email or phone nr. To be safe set up a new email acct and get a pay as you go phone. Always meet in a public place like a Starbucks. Never go anywhere unknown with another person. If you want to go to a hotel, then book it yourself, not where they suggest. Unfortunately there have been reports of people being lured to hotels or homes where they are then beaten and robbed upon arrival But 90% of the women on Craigslist are either scammers who can't meet, prostitutes whose pimps will demand money from you, or webcam sites. There are very few actual women on there looking for hookups
