How do I properly dispose of two broken box springs and a metal frame in Chicago?

I have two broken box springs and a metal frame that need to go. I've tried freecycle, craigslist, and charities, but no one wants them. I don't just want to dump them on the corner. I do not own a car. I do have a zipcar membership. I'm wondering if my only option is buy an axe and chop them up until they fit in my trash cans?

1. Call your municipal trash line. Most such have a method for residents to dispose of large objects, usually for a small fee.
