Do some people think it is not the role of the federal government to protect it citizens?
Do they want to abolish all government regulatory agencies ? Partial list: Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Army Corps of Engineers Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Consumer Product Safety Commission Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Drug Enforcement Administration Employment and Training Administration (ETA) Employment Standards Administration (ESA) Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Farm Credit Administration (FCA) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Federal Deposit Insurance Commission (FDIC) Federal Election Commission (FEC) Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EREN) Federal Highway Administration (FHA) Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AuLht8NJHbkqdMf4sdbH.4Xsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20100314074421AAS5eSh

- Regarding Obamacare: 1) What is the payment mechanism.....will I just have to provide verification I bought a policy or will the IRS auto-deduct from my bank account or add it to my tax return? 2) When will that start happening? 3) What is the point at which the poor receive a subsidy and will this cover their entire cost? 4) What is the minimum coverage required to not go to jail? 5) In exact dollars, how will it affect a person's monthly insurance cost? 6) If these fundamental issues are not even known, why on earth do people support it?
- Many of these agencies can be combined with other agencies that perform nearly the same function, which would streamline and reduce the size of the government tremendously. Corporations do it all the time; why can't the government? A good example: The U.S. Forest Service is under the Department of Agriculture because it was first formed as an agency to manage and oversee the harvesting of timber. Period. The Bureau of Land Management is found under the Department of the Interior because it was formed to oversee and administrate the land, but there was no timber on that land to harvest. Nowadays, the Forest Service still oversees timber harvest, but its functions have evolved to something similar to the BLM, so why not combine the two agencies and quit having two separate agencies under two separate departments?
- Yes, but it's not supposed to regulate every aspect of our lives. Just enough gov. to keep the barbarians from the gate and the roads paved, thank you. Banning trans fats...so over the top. I'll smoke, eat fatty foods, and shoot my damn guns all night. Laws or no laws.
- Governments job is to protect it citizens from the nations enemies, not to control all of the citizens from conception to grave.
- amazingly heath care is not on the list!!! Thanks for proving the right, right yet again!!! Amtrack FAILURE!! USPS FAILURE Freddie/Fannie FAILURE Keep trying sport!!!
- I think you're exaggerating. Like all those entities would even exist without the cooperation of both parties. What some of us oppose is the government running every aspect of our lives. This is supposed to be a free country. Libs want a nanny state, and to my thinking, that translates into governmental enslavement of the people.
- Boy, thanks for that list. Give me my knife, time to cut!!!
- Most of them are there to protect us against something that doesn't always have our best interests at heart. Big Business and it's products and services.
- Yes, some of them do. I am sure the criminals would love to get rid of most of that.
