Are blacks really treated unfairly by the judicial system?

I know I'm going to be called "racist" for this or whatever, but it's just a thought-provoking question. Obviously, marijuana and most drug charges are unconstitutional, and any black man who is locked up for possession of drugs (especially weed) should be released. I do know there is some unfairness as I know alot of spoiled white college kids who smoke pot but do not get in any trouble. I do civilian police work (Guardian Angels) and many of the fellow Angels are black. Also many police in urban areas are black and Latino, I have seen it myself. The police force seems to reflect the area. Most police come from a working-class background (although I know this is changing due to the fact that alot of policemen have degrees now). Also most lawyers and judges vote Democrats (as are most people with high education, like professors), which is the party behind giving second chances to black and Latino criminals out of pity for their bad environments which they had no control over. Alot of judges and lawyers are also Jewish, who are 80% Democrats, and have sided with black causes since the Civil Rights movement. Stereotypically, poor blacks have had alot of help from the Federal Government. They live in government-housing projects, they receive government aid, they work in government jobs (security guards at the airport, DMV and such), there is a government Equal Opportunities Employment Commission, so how could one say that policemen, who are government employees, are out to get them. Is this a race thing or a class thing? Because I have a hard time believe it is a race thing. I can see how a judge would be unsympathetic to a member of society who does not contribute anything, but given the fact that most judges are government employees who are likely to be Democrats, it doesn't seem valid. @ Amerie, if you blame whites like that, you really need to grow up. I like the wide responses of anwers I'm getting. And I agree with you all that drug charges are completely unconstitutional. Oh, and this makes my point that if the judicial system really IS responsible for keeping blacks down, then all those blacks who like to point the finger at working-class whites (especially Southerners) have more to blame the Federal Government, liberals, and other blacks for than the "rednecks" who always get blamed for being racist and keeping blacks down.

2. Government is not supposed to discriminate. But individual people who work for the government do, so it's still a race thing but also a class one.

6. I think black people are targeted more by police men and that is why there seems to be more black people in jail. A guy I know was driving and he was with a black guy and this cop pulled them over for no reason he said something like you didn't use your signal and anyways that black guy was arrested for failure to appear in court and he would not have been pulled over I am sure if he didn't have that black guy with him. The place I am talking about is known for targeting black people and even spanish people.

8. first off i would like to say that blacks are treated unfairly by the judicial system...i disagree with u when u say alot of judges and lawyers are jewish and democrat because there are plenty of judges and lawyers who are not jewish and are republicans......see i get what u are saying but u have 2 look at if fromt this situation: say there is a 17 year old black male who comes from a bad and poor environment let's say he gets stopped by police for speeding and they find some cocaine in his car they'll try him as an adult and give him 5 years in prison but let's say you have a 17 year white male who come's from an upper-class family let's say he's drunk driving because he's just came back froma party and police find the same amount of cocaine in his car because of who he is he will have to serve no jail time and will have to do several months worth of community service and pay large fines...that's really the problem.
9. Firstly you need to understand that Democrat doesn't equal liberal or progressive by ANY means. I know plenty people who vote Democrat purely for economic reasons. In the Northeast and in the South, many people elect Democratic local leaders but are socially conservative, they only do it for the social welfare benefits that they get from supporting the Democratic party such as Medicare, educational subsidies, etc. While your argument seems to be well thought out, it relies on alot of false premises and flimsy arguments. Firstly, the fact that there are many Jewish democratic lawyers and judges is largely irrelevant. While they are responsible for the prosecution of cases, most cases (over 50%) do not go to trial and the defendant usually either pleas out as a result of coercion (trust me, this happens ALOT more often than you would like to think), or gets tangled up in pre-trial litigation that they end up spending up to a year in prison awaiting trial. Also, while many lawyers are Jewish, most attorneys are NOT Jewish, and most Jewish attorneys actually work in the private sector, in corporate law, intellectual property law, and in civil claims. On the other hand, the prosecutors tend to be well trained and skilled litigators, while public defenders are usually taken from the bottom 20% of their graduating class. Secondly, you assuming that the race of police officers is relevant is also a false premise. Just because a policeman may be a minority doesn't exclude them from being racist to minority groups. A Latino or an Asian is just as likely to be racist against Blacks as a White American is, and vice versa. Being a Black Hispanic myself, I can personally attest to the FACT that many Latinos dislike Blacks, and many Blacks dislike Latinos. So who is to say that all the racial profiling is being done by Whites? People even racially profile against their OWN race. Finally, in regards to Black people not being targets of Law Enforcement because they are civil servants themselves....thats a TERRIBLE argument. A police officer who is stopping a black dude at 11pm has absolutely no way of knowing whether or not they are civil servant or not, and truth be told, the number of Black people in the criminal justice system outnumber the number of Black people working for the government. If anything, living in government projects and getting welfare only gives police MORE incentive to violate on you because those are all indicators that you lack the financial means to fight them in court, and the education to know your legal rights when encountered with Law enforcement officials. To use your own example, realistically speaking there are almost as many drugs on any given college campus as there are in any given housing project. But who do you think the police are gonna harass first, and who do you think they're gonna search first-3 white kids coming out of a college frat house at 2 am or 3 black kids coming out the PJ's at the same time?
