Where is the best place to get a pre-purchase car inspection in the Seattle area?

I'm looking to buy a 93-98 VW Jetta off craigslist and I was wondering where I should take it to have it inspected? How much should it cost and is there any way I can get the seller to pay for it?

1. First things first. The seller is not going to pay for this inspection. This is the responsibility of the potential buyer. If you do not have a qualified mechanic that you already have a working relationship with then just take it to a VW dealer or any shop that specializes in VW repair. The dealer will charge you more because their labor rates are higher than an independent shop but at least you have some guarantee that they know what they are talking about. The cost should be around 1.5 to 2.0 hours of labor at whatever rate the shop is billing. Expect to pay around $120 or more at the dealer.
