Where can I find cheaper Live Rock (San Diego, CA)?
$25 for about 5 lb at my local pet store. I need 30 lb & I just don't have that extra money at this moment. My girlfriend's dad goes scuba diving miles offshore, is there anything in Pacific Ocean that's comparable? I checked craigslist, but no one has anything they want to sell separate from their whole tanks.

- $5 per pound isn't too bad. In my area, live rock can go for as much as $8 per pound in stores. Keep checking Craigslist for deals. I got some rock from a person breaking down their tank for $3 per pound. You may also find a reasonable price on eBay or a marine forum like www.reefcentral.com. Using uncured rock harvested directly from the ocean is risky. You may introduce unwanted organisms, like parasites or crabs, that can create problems in your tank. Plus, local laws may not allow for the removal of the rock. If worse comes to worst, just buy a few pounds of live rock at a time, until you get the desired amount.
