Affordable housing?

i always see all these black ppl on tv bitching about how they dont get affordable housing (projects) in manhattan and how harlem or other "black neighborhoods" are becoming more and more upscale and they cant afford living there anymore. and it really annoys me that they think they have the right to live somewhere for like a fraction of the cost it actually costs to live there just bec they are black and poor and whatever. i cant afford to live in manhattan and so cant many other people or they have to pay like $1000 a month to live in some hole in the wall. i think projects should be built in "remote" areas that are basically cheap to live in and have little demand for them, and that supply and demand should regulate the prices of houses and if there is high demand for a certain place (such as manhattan) the prices there should reflect that demand, and there shouldnt be an exception to allow poor ppl to live there for basically nothing. what do u think? do u think "affordable housing" should be made available in places where there is high demand for housing?

2. I think that the areas where there is affordable housing are generally more unsafe than other areas. That's because there is so much crime in the "projects". I do think it's insane that I pay 2650 a month to live in an apt that is 500 square feet while other people pay next to nothing to live in the same area and it makes me livid. I really hate public housing, but I know it has to exist b/c not everyone is well off or capable of supporting themselves...I just don't like that it's my tax dollars that pay for people to sit on their butt and do nothing while I slave away at work everyday.
