How does an apartment become qualified for low-income Housing?
Hi. I have a friend who owns a small apartment complex (well, apartment building would be more accurate). He is interested in getting at least one of those apartments qualified so that people with low income and Housing through the state can live there. Neither of us have been able to figure out how to go about this, or even where to start. Any advice would be great! If it helps, the apartments are in Spokane Valley, Washington (state). Thank you!

- You would have to contact the local housing office in your county or city. One of these would be able to explain the methods of being HUD approved for a HUD rental. There is paper work to complete as well as the unit would have to be inspected. The inspection could be quite ridged. If you fail to pass the first time they will indicate what is necessary to pass the next time. This is an excellent program and if done correctly it is very rewarding. I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck. "FIGHT ON"
- Register with Section 8; www.gosection8.com and ask for a landlord application. The unit will be inspected, but possibly not until a potential renter has expressed an interest. Keep in mind Section 8 will dictate the amount of rent and even if a potential tenant says they can pay the difference, Section 8 won't permit it. You can also advertise your unit on the same site. realtor.sailor
