mexican army on red dead redemption game?

ok so heres the situation, i was doing one of those stranger missions in mexico, the one where you have to get the opium for the workers, and as i was helping the mexican army by burning the houses down, one of the people got killed and now the mexican army is against me. is there any way to get them to stop trying to kill me everywhere i go? i don't think i can re-load the mission since i already saved. thanks for lookin first of all i don't have the us marshal suit, next i didn't have any bounty. i had saved yesterday and when i started playing abour an hour ago it was gone, the army wasn't shooting me anymore so i guess its like a timed thing or something

1. check to see if your wanted or not if you are got to a train stop and pay off your bounty. hopefully it should be back to normal then.
2. First, are you wearing the us marshal outfit? If so, change clothes. If not, then try and get the bandito outfit I think. It or one of them makes the mexican army your friends.
