Is the HUD-1 statement the same as the Settlement Statement?
Is the HUD-1 statement the same as the "Settlement Statement" I received? Everywhere I read it says that form HUD-1 has to be sent in along with your tax return but the form I received when I purchased my home in October says "Settlement Statement US Department of Housing and Urban Development FINAL" in box A. bot it does not say HUD-1 anywhere on it.... is this the same thing? If it is, is there anything else I need to send or just this?

- Yes it is the same, well HUD stands for Housing and Urban Development. It's usually referred to as the HUD-1 Settlement Statement. It basically breaks down all the charges and stuff.
- On the one I just pulled out it says HUD down near the bottom where the blank for the Settlement agent signs. HUD made them up. I don't think that form is required to be used in all transactions (like maybe cash) but is normally used in all. But yes, we are talking about the settlement statement.
- Yes the HUD statement is the settlement statement, the reason why it is called the HUD is because it is the Department of Housing and Urban Development's document.
