Is there affordable housing in anchorage alaska?

Me and my wife are relocating to ak in 2012 and im wondering other than what ive seen on craigslist if there is affordable housing. We have a daughter so rooming is out, but other than that we dont mind cabins, trailers, one bed apts etc. Were hoping to find something for 500 dollars a month or a little over. Anyone kniw the area at all? Thanks :]
