- find the law and show it to your landlord with a note from a doc or something
- not clear
- I think to be classed as an actual therapy animal the animal has to be TRAINED to perform some specific service for a disabled person, like guide dogs for the blind or hearing ear dogs for the deaf or pets who predict seizures or who can open cabinets and get things out for someone with limited mobility. But there is another classification called (I think) comfort animals or emotional support animals. . they are not allowed in as many public places, businesses etc. as are therapy animals that perform tasks. But i think at least some locations, they are allowed in apartments that do not otherwise take pets. I saw someone discussng this on a dog forum and i think they said it is covered under the Fair Housing Act. (that is federal law) but there may also be state laws or local ordinances. Google "emotonal support animal" and "Fair Housing Act" and your state, .. You would of course have to be officially diagnosed with a disorder, I guess anxiety disorder from what you said? . and then have to get a letter from your doctor saying the cat helps alleviate it.
