How do I report or charge someone with selling fakes in the classifieds?

I bought a fake ring out of the classifieds,it was advertised as real gold and certified diamonds but its plated and glass diamonds.Can I prosecute any ferther than civil court?I paid $525 dollars with a bank check. The person is like 1000 miles away from me.I bought it sight unseen like a idiot

1. If they used the U. S. Postal Service you can have them charged with mail fraud too. If they used fed ex or ups then you can't charge that. Hard way to learn a lesson, isn't it?
