Walmart employment question with background checks?
Does anyone know if walmart calls your job references and personal ones????

- Just to be on the safe side assume they do! Nice rule of thumb for any place you may apply!
- Yes they do. My daughter works for Wal-Mart and they called her contacts. BTW, It is a far better place to work than you would expect.
- they check references, verify previous employment, and do criminal background checks..... and contrary to those who have never worked there may claim, generally they are a fair employer (they do have middle managers who have made mistakes in the past) who try to strictly follow all labor laws and regulations, they offer benefits (profit sharing, stock purchase, PTO, insurance) to ALL employees based on seniority not full-time status, and if you are willing to work they will pay a fair wage for the work done......
- As you may well imagine, Walmart does a very thorough background check, they will call all of your personal references as well as any contacts that you provide them with via letters of recommendation or reference. They also contact past and previous employers and they conduct a background and credit check for obvious reasons. If people are behind on their bills and have collections actions against them, then employers like Walmart, Target, and others will always question whether or not you become a higher risk to them as an employee. It may be unfair, but you can best believe that this is an unwritten rule in the hiring ranks.
