How to apply for public housing in Ohio?

More specifically I live in Toledo, OH. I was planning to move into an apartment this upcoming month but I have now discovered that I am pregnant and with this new expense I know I will not be able to afford the rent. Can I apply for public housing/section 8 while being pregnant or do I have to wait until I give birth. Anybody who is on section 8 can you explain to me the process, how fast you got into a place, and if you had any say on the location? Thanks in advance.

1. You have to have the baby before you can receive section 8. Still it can't hurt to get familiar with the process now, as there will likely be a long wait to get approved. You need to apply at your local Hud office.
