- You have to be careful when looking at online job databases/website. Look at the hiring company. Usually the bulk of the listed jobs are legal staffers, such as Robert Half Legal, which hire only for temporary work. They aggressively advertise so they can get quality people that they can repeatedly hire out. They get good pay for being "head-hunters". It is all contract work. The numbers you are seeing are most definitely inflated. The paralegal profession is appealing to people because they see these inflated ads and how "easy" it seems to get a degree. The truth is, it is a highly competitive field with growing educational requirements and it is quickly becoming more discriminatory in who they hire. It is an excellent career, but it is not the boom town you're being led to believe in.
- these are NOT scams but they are less then honest numbers..... recruiters are always looking for prospects so IF a job comes available they have someone to offer, they get paid for providing pre-screened applicants...... and temp agencies are ALWAYS hiring, they may hire you and then never call you with an assignment.... temp agencies MUST keep a lot of employees available just in case there is a need..... temp agencies can lose their contract if a business calls and the agency does not have someone to send..... add to this the fact that there are now hundreds of "for-profit" schools offering training and a certificate (that is NOT worth the paper it is written on), these schools need prospects to think this is a booming filed so they will pay for their worthless certifications and training....... these schools are in business to register (and charge) as many people as possible NOT to provide a usable job-skill
