Did Bush jr have nothing to do with the housing bubble?

"In June, President Bush announced the national goal of increasing the number of minority homeowners by at least 5.5 million by the end of this decade. Meeting the President's goal will not only help more Americans enjoy the benefits of owning their own homes it will also help strengthen America's economy. According to a study released today by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, meeting the President's goal will involve $256 billion in economic activity in the form of construction and remodeling jobs, spending on household goods, and other benefits" Quote from- http://www.policyalmanac.org/social_welfare/archive/wh_minority_housing.shtml

  1. and what year was this ?when the congress was republican or democrat??..
  2. This is why you need to look at issues as a whole. The speech where he announced that was in response to a letter from 32 Democratic congresspeople asking him to do that or they would refuse to support funding for troops in Afghanistan.
  3. he succeeded at failing here, didn't he?
  4. I remember that.
  5. There exists NO BUSH, JR. ergo no answer to this question!
  6. He had just as much to do with it as all the other politicians, on both sides of the aisle, who looked the other way and ignored the signs for over ten years. Include also the National Board of Realtors, the Wall Street banks that own our government, and the hoards of American suckers who know nothing of history and economics except what they learn from the media that is owned by the same crooks that own the govenrment.
  7. Chris Dodd and Barney Frank were each responsible for the default of FREDDIE and FANNIE. They did so by not only allowing - but INSISTING that FREDDIE and FANNIE loan to people above the level that they could reasonably pay back... The INCENTIVE PROGRAMS - actually REWARDED the STAFF with MILLIONS in BONUS DOLLARS if they got their QUOTAS. Then in a BRILLIANT MOVE... Obama appointed DODD and FRANK to figure out WHAT WENT WRONG... and guess what they Didn't find?
  8. I"ve read this article. NIce try, but when I read it. I see a push toward ending predatory lending, education of people and simplying the mortgage process. I do'nt see an agenda of mis-using government power to force banks to make high risk loans. Not saying that this didn't have anything at all to do with the mortgage meltdown, but it wasn't a significant factor since the major factors were created by Democrats.
