Is this a good or bad way to reduce the National debt and deficit?
How about abolishing unnecessary departments of the federal government. Department of Health and Human services: Cost is 879 billion yearly (Most expensive department) Department of Labor: Cost is 137 billion yearly Department of Veteran Affairs: Cost is 97 billion yearly Department of the Interior: Cost is 90 billion yearly Department of Transportation: Cost is 73 billion yearly Department of Education: 45 billion yearly (Smallest department by # of employees, only 4,500, that's 1 million times less than it's cost. Department of Housing and Urban Development: 40 billion Department of Energy: 24 billion Abolishing these departments would reduce the amount of Federal employees, also saving money. It isn't a little money, it's the future of the country! Fine remove that from the list if you have a problem with it.

- I would much rather see the bush tax cuts expire, and die a natural death.
- The plan is to indefinitely increase our national debt. We all know that. To what end? I would be in favor of abolition of the federal government.
- good......... but who's gonna pay for all those jobs you're cutting? All those people employed within those departments will be on unemployment and welfare. I like the leaglizing-pot idea better. It creates both revenue and jobs.
- legalize weed put a tax on it problem solved
- bad..we can cut a lot of pork out of these to save money but not get rid of any.
- You want to let the combat vets. deal with their own injuries from combat just so you can save a little money?
- Yeah, let's screw the veterans!
- Some of those are fine. Our education system is an absolute joke and we pumping money into a failed system and, not surprisingly, getting poor results. Our veterans deserve more and we treat them badly enough, but I'm not sure that it's a lack of money that is an issue as much as a lack of care or compassion.
