How do you get housing with low income and poor credit?

I make about 25k a year and I have poor credit. What are my best options for getting housing?

  1. Motels more then likely. The ghetto landlords will not check your credit.
  2. You might qualify for subsidized housing, especially if you have kids.
  3. I would look into low income housing, if you have kids. If not, then the best bet would to rent a room from someone who is renting a room of their house, or to share a place with a friend who has better credit.
  4. i have poor credit as well and never have a problem finding a new place. i have kids so i talk really sweet to them and sometimes give them a bigger security deposit. you dont have to rent a room
  5. Fix your credit and get a better or 2nd job. Per your posts, you have had bad credit for a long time. Why haven't you worked on fixing it. It's time to do it.
  6. Try to find an apartment complex that isn't owned by a corporation. They are only going to look at the cold hard facts - your income and credit report. They aren't going to want to hear any excuses why you fell behind etc. A smaller complex that has a landlord you can talk to and explain your situation may work out better. You may have to offer a larger deposit, or even 3 to 6 mos rent up front to get them to trust you. As long as you don't have any evictions on your credit report, you should be able to find somewhere to live with a bit of digging.
  7. Sounds like my question a few months back. I make ruffly 25K a yr and I have bad credit but I contacted a Realtor and told him my case, what I was looking for, location I desired and amount I was willing to pay a month along with amount I could put down on the place. He contacted me with a listing of homes and properties that were foreclosed on but all fell into what I was looking for. All I needed was the down payment of 2,000.00 and a co-buyer. If you don't want to go threw a realtor find listings for foreclosed homes and your bound to come across a listing that matches up to your needs.
