Good idea to put cell phone number on Do Not Call List?

I get occasional telemarketing calls/text messages on my cell phone, so I have reason to put it on the (US FTC) Do Not Call list. But, by doing so, will I actually be SUPPLYING my number to unscrupulous telemarketers and telemarketers who are still legally permitted to call numbers on the Do Not Call list?
