When bartering on craigslist, is meeting with the person the only way to exhange items?

I'm looking to barter a few items on craigslist. I have a few offers but I want to know if there is an alternative to directly meeting with the person and exchanging the items. Thanks. I just have some valuable items that I'm afraid he may run off with! I was hoping we could instead exchange via eBay where things are monitored but I guess meeting really is the only thing that would make sense.

No, both buyer and seller ought to meet to confirm the item is as described and the count the dough. Don't be so nervous. You can meet any where. A police station parking lot if you like.
2. Yes. There is a big warning on every page saying that you need to do the sale in person and for cash. Meet at a bank (inside the bank) or police station.
