Moving from San Francisco to Houston area, need help with areas?
I am thinking about moving to Houston from San Francisco for a job that is lined up. I am 31, married with 2 boys 11 and 7. Any areas that is good for our ages and children? Also, are there areas that have a lot of trees? I notice on the craigslist rentals that most of the neighborhoods look plain without trees. More details on where the job is.....it looks like its the northern part of Houston. Looking at the map, its just to the left of George Bush Airport.

- There are trees in the inner city. The areas where many people with children tend to settle are in the suburbs. Those north of the city have the tall pines trees from the east Texas piney woods. Both Kingwood and The Woodlands are master-planned communities north of Houston and both were carved out of forests so you have tons of trees.
- What part of Houston (or outskirts is your job)? Houston is a big city that covers a lot of miles and cities on the outskirts. If your job is downtown, you're really not going to find affordable housing in the city (unless you're bankin) Most people live on the outskirts and commute to work. If you live on the outskirts, I'd say average commute time is 45 minutes one way (but that's just an estimate, it really depends on where you live). If you're working on the north side, Kingwood is a nice woody area. Who would've guessed with the name, right?! Good luck! *** Kingwood would probably be your best bet. It's near the airport and it's just a really pretty city. Really great schools as well. Still plenty of things to do even though you're not in the heart of Houston.
