Where should I look for apartments in Las Vegas?

I'm moving to Las Vegas from a small town in New Hampshire. I'm looking at apartments, and I wanted to know, which parts are very bad? The apartment finder I'm using lets me select which of these neighborhood I can look in... Central Las Vegas East Las Vegas Green Valley Nellis Area Northeast Las Vegas Northwest Las Vegas South Las Vegas Southeast Las Vegas Southwest Las Vegas Spring Valley Strip Area Summerlin The Lakes Area UNLV Area West Las Vegas Please also note I do not make much money, so I'm thinking on the strip will probably not be an option for me. Thanks!

  1. depends on what you can afford and where you are working. the strip is not an option for rentals.
  2. Central Las Vegas (Pretty good, actually look at Indian Hills Apts on Sahara and Arville) East Las Vegas (eh, it's older so I wouldn't) Green Valley (Super nice, not close to the strip, think more Henderson.) Nellis Area (ghetto) Northeast Las Vegas (Newer some parts, older some parts, it really depends on the street) Northwest Las Vegas (Newer area, nice, expensive though.) South Las Vegas (Nice, however not close to that much seeing as they are still building) Southeast Las Vegas (more towards Henderson, older) Southwest Las Vegas (Older, right before Summerlin, kind of nice but a bit older. Look at Summerhill Point Apts off of Sahara and Ft. Apache) Spring Valley (Older but not that many apts, more residential with houses) Strip Area (Too expensive, only hotels and high rises) Summerlin (EXPENSIVE) The Lakes Area (Older area but nice apts, Summerhill Point is another you may want to look at) UNLV Area (Ghetto, however, cheap apts. No washer and dryer in lots of units.. :( West Las Vegas (my favorite place. LOVES IT! More houses than apts, but look at apts on west Flamingo such as The Ritz, or Broadstone) Hope this helps you! Good luck here!!! :)
  3. You want to have your apartment as close to work/school as possible. I would select The Lakes, Summerlin, Spring Valley or Green Valley. NOT Strip or east or West Las Vegas for sure.
