Has anyone successfully found a job by Yahoo Hot Jobs?

Otherwise, where are the effective job search site?

  1. Cant say that I have. The only job database site that I actually got a job from was CareerBuilder.com and that was like 5 years ago. Though it was probably one of the worst jobs I worked, it's still something I guess. Job database are full of fluff and fake jobs. What works the best for me (or what has worked for me in the past) is first exploring your skill set and then think about the jobs that might relate to it. For example, I'm a musician, so why not work at a music store, or as an intern at a commercial studio? Of course this doesn't always work (or is optional), so the other thing that has worked for me is good ol foot and pavement around town. Though it sucks I know, at least it's better than looking at 200 fake results of making $840 a week from working at home. Ask around, fill out applications, and hound the mangers etc, of places you are interested in to the point where they can recognize your voice under a cold. Follow up, etc. Good luck :D
  2. Lots of my fraternity brothers got jobs from this website; http://collegegradshelpwanted.jobamatic.com/a/jobs/find-jobs
  3. I have used Hot Jobs in the past. I am pretty sure (lol don't hold me to it, but I remember reading something online) that they are now merging with Monster.com and I think they will become one site. There are a number of job search sites I use. Truthfully, you should search for jobs on a bunch of them. Company #1 may like to use HotJobs, but Company #2 may like to use CareerBuilder.com by only searching on job search site, you limit the number of jobs you come across. Here are some of the sites I recommend.
  4. Indeed.com SimplyHired.com Both pull job listings directly from corporate boards. LinkedIn.com; it is not a job board, but an online networking group; here you can join groups and get tips about resumes/interviews and network with others in your industry. Here is info about that if you are curious: good luck!
