What can happen if some one rented me a bank owed house in Sacramento Cali..?

Now that I'm all move in and paid up I can't get a hold of the so called land lord. I found the rental on craigslist. Please help.. I think I got scammed

1. There are laws that will protect you since your already in the house.. and Im sure have a lease with the unknown landlord, right? Check the county register website to find out who the mortgage co is and let them know that you are renting this house,,but cant reach the landlord and that you have concerns... dont just move out for sure! Get your moneys worth for the rent you have paid and work it out with the lender... for sure there are new laws to protect those in your very situation!
2. That's why you need to be careful about Craigslist. Too many scams. Always meet with the landlord in PERSON and get the keys and sign the lease in person. Take a tour of the rental property as well. Try visiting the Sacramento Assessor's office. They hold ownership information. Explain your situation and take a copy of your lease and rent receipts with you.
