Does the US Career Institute associate's degree really help you advance in your career?
I work as a DSP for a non-profit organization. I'm thinking about going back to school to obtain my degree in Social Work. Distance learning seems to be the most convenient option for me, but does a degree from an online school really look impressive to a supervisor?

- Most supervisors and employers need to know that the people they work with have credentials that mean something. This typically means graduating from an accredited school with reasonably good grades. So the short answer is 'go for it' if a distance learning option gives you the flexibility and training you need. It may be true on occasion that an employer may prefer someone from his or her alma matter but in reality most employers see a need and they simply need to know if you are qualified to do the work. . . an accredited degree can get you in the door. Also U.S. Career is accredited through the DETC - (link below) BTW - good for you for considering going back to school and you may want to see if your employer will help with your educational costs.
