What does a typical apartment rent payment go towards?
When sending in a typical rent payment, what is it used for besides the mortgage, taxes, insurance, etc after it is in the hands of the landlord?

- what ever the landlord wants to to go for
- why does it matter to you? It belongs to the landlord to use as they see fit.
- Maintenance, certain utilities and employees if needed.
- The landlord can use it for what ever he/she wants. All of it. They may choose to pay the mortgage on the building, up keep, insurance, utilities, taxes, permits or they may just bank it all off shore until right before they get caught and then run away to a warm place with cheap housing and abandon the whole thing, you included.
- Upkeep, repairs, advertising for new tenants, utilities if they are included in the rent. If there is anything extra after all the necessities are paid, I suppose the landlord can do whatever he likes...Vegas, savings, other investments...
- It goes to whatever the landlord wants it to.Owning propery and renting it out is a way of making money, but landlords aren't getting rich like a lot of tenants think
