Buying car off Craigslist & have it shipped?

Buy a car near you! I know, its not happening though Ive given it a month. This town car supply sucks! Ohhh kay. Here she is http://houston.craigslist.org/car/659230955.html The price is Way to high, but I will speak to him about that. Shipping quote is $300 To have SGS car inspectors go out and give it a full 150 point check plus test drive is $100 But! to list on Ebay is $90 and I would use Paypal bank transfer. Is this the best way to do it, or are there better site for this? I dont have a car, so I dont know how you suppose I get to Houston. Even if Im there I will look at the car in person, ride in it. Woooo, Im still in the same spot because all I know is if it start smoking and shaking not good. Is the inspection company the one I need? Haha bout the miles. Either HIGH or motor replaced and such. I searched the price and it does seem accurate but I bet I could bump it down $100 at least for the inspection. I wont go with ebay. I dont think its needed if the inspection goes well. Im not buying it if it doesnt.

  1. That is not a good way to do it. What you should do is check out a dozen or so cars online, in one area, preferably the nearest major city, or better city than yours. Get the VINs, check carfax, research the models, narrow it down to 3 or 4 cars. Then take a day or two to go to that city and look at the cars and buy one in person. No one intelligent selling a car on Craigslist is going to sell to someone out of town, unless they have a local agent to buy the car in person. Unless this SGS group is going to do that for you, forget it. And if you're only paying 300 dollars for shipping, you are probably close enough to Houston to go there yourself. And now that I have just looked at the car you're scoping out: 1. The price is not too high. Particularly in areas with long commutes and with gas prices on the rise, he WILL get that much for an extreme-economy car in condition that good. 2. That is a fairly rare and collectible car. It is worth that much. 3. It is worth either taking a trip to Houston (but only if you have other cars to look at as well) or going through all this rigamarole you're talking about. I've only ever seen 2 of those cars, and that is in better shape than either of them.
  2. It's funny he never advertises the miles!!!
