I need a job pretty badly do employment agencies work?

Aren't there places you go and help you find jobs in your area? Are those called the employment agencies? I've been trying to find jobs on the online websites but I havn't had any luck with them. Thanks.

1. Yes there is staffing agencies that can turn contract jobs into a regular job. Typically they hire you to do a job through them then if the company likes you they keep you if not they just place you in another position. You usually get paid a little then the going rate of that job directly through the company but it's a good start until a more permanent job opens up. I worked for a staffing company for 2 years and it was good money.
