What U.S. Cabinet and Cabinet-Level Departments are Truly Necessary?

When the U.S. Constitution was created The State, Treasury, and Defense (War) Departments were also created. I see the Department of Justice as important, but the others? Department of the Interior Department of Agriculture Department of Commerce Department of Labor Department of Health and Human Services Department of Housing and Urban Development Department of Transportation Department of Energy Department of Education Department of Veterans Affairs (Could be Combined with Defense) Department of Homeland Security Executive Office of the President Office of Management and Budget Environmental Protection Agency Office of the Trade Representative United States Mission to the United Nations Council of Economic Advisers Just let me know about each one, or all. Thanks! *After the U.S. Constitution was created The State, Treasury, and Defense (War) Departments were later created in 1789. If you remove all of the list above 1/2 Trillion Dollars would be cut from the Federal Budget.

  1. the kitchen cabinet, now shut up and go read a textbook.
  2. None of the above are necessary and should be eliminated.
  3. None of them really. It is congress' job to write laws, not the job of some executive agency. All of these departments could be rolled into one with different branches with the express job of enforcing federal law handed down by congress and signed by the president.
  4. none that I can see.
